Hi. Just received my new avios Barclaycard. Can I use the card to purchase gift cards from the various uk apps and websites. Or are these treated as a cash transaction incurring a fee?
The virgin mastercard is fine, but Lloyds would always be hit with those cash charges.
Any insight ?
I’ve never known a credit card treat gift card purchases as a cash advance, including the Lloyds avios cards back in the day when I held them! I’m assuming you mean standard gift cards such as Amazon, Asda, iTunes, and so on?
No, I mean using websites like swippi and the corporate gift card systems to buy discounted gift cards.
Ah, no idea then, but Virgin is the strictest card I know of re these things, so I would hazard a guess that if it’s ok with them, it’ll be ok with Barclays. Maybe try a low-value transaction to start with?
Not an issue at all.
+1 no issues here, Perks at work / TCB / JamD etc.
