Can I downgrade to economy?

Hi all,

apologies if it’s a silly question but am a points newbie.

I will be travelling on the BA Euroflyer LGW-QSR route on Sep 15. We are a family of three.

There’s currently no economy avios availability but plenty of business.

My question is the following: if I were to book Business for the three of us today to take advantage of the reward flight sale, could I then possibly downgrade to the economy avios fare if that becomes available later? Would there be a fee?

I’ve never seen that question asked before, but I understand the logic. I assume you can downgrade as well as upgrade, but if not it’s a simple cancel and rebook. Fee is £35pp either way.

Remember that your current Club flights will be at the discounted rate but any bookings from tomorrow will be at the normal rate.

So how many avios will you actually be saving if you do this and is that worth it?
