Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Cancellation of On Business flight booking by BA

  • 27 posts

I had two bookings made with OnBusiness points where the flights were cancelled by BA (before the 14-day deadline so this is not a compensation issue). I have had the fees paid for the bookings returned to the card used to pay, but the OnBusiness points appeared to have vanished into the ether. It is now several months since this happened, so even allowing for the snail like response process on most BA issues, its looking like they don’t intend to do anything more.

Has anyone experience of these sorts of cancellations and were the points credited back to their account automatically or did you have to intervene?

I had an FTV inc OB points which BA recently broke up – got the email saying it would be broken. Points returned with 12/22 expiry date.

Have you checked your OB account to see if the points were returned but were instantly expired?

My On Business points never get credited and always have to submit a claim after the 10 days wait. And should buying flights with the BA accelerating Business Amex Card, credit to On Business at time of purchase or after flying?

Checked my account in detail and absolutely no sign of the missing points. Nor have I had any emails about the cancelled flights – the refunded the cash fees but didn’t even email to say this.

I suspect that like much of BA, the admin is chaos behind the scenes. I had a flight in November where I got the points for the outbound but not the return leg. So I made a claim for the missing points in November – and six months on it is still listed as “awaiting verification”.
