I have recently booked return flights on BA in premium economy over xmas / new year from London to Bangkok.
They were unsurprisingly expensive at this time of year and there were no avios available.
I am trying to find out if there is a charge to cancel them should we find a cheaper or better option nearer the time. The BA website has cancel booking option under ‘manage my booking’ but nowhere does it state what refund will be given.
Is there a way to find out from the ticket what the cancellation cost would be without having to call BA?
Thank you
If you cancel then all you’ll get back is the proper government taxes and airport fees less an admin charge. You’ll lose everything else.
That’s assuming yiu have one of the lesser fare buckets. If it’s a full fat W fare bucket than you’ll get more back.
Thanks Chris. How can I find out if it is a full fat W fare? Does it say on the ticket?
There is still a chance that ‘Book With Confidence’ is extended to the end of the year, which would allow you to cancel for a voucher with no fees.
I had a quick look and the fares up to rather expensive are all non refundable unfortunately, as is common ex-London on BA (in the other direction you’d be fine!)
If you post how much you paid + what date you booked and roughly the dates you are travelling (if you don’t want us to know exactly!) and I can go back in Expertflyer and double check for you the fare rules – to give you an idea a W ticket would be about 3k return pp
Top tip in this scenario with BA is to book it as a holiday, then you’d only lose the deposit
Thanks Rob,
Interesting – will wait and see.

Appreciate it.
Yes, the fares were nearer £1700 each. I think I have just actually found the line on the long print-out version of the ticket on the website which states non-refundable other than taxes so that seems to answer my question.
Thanks
