Cancellation fee on an avios booking

Just wondering if selecting the 50p option you’d just forfeit that upon cancellation or would actually be required to pay the £35 somehow?

See today’s article on the Avios sale – it’s the lower of the cash element you paid or £35 per person, so in your case just the 50p

I had to cancel one leg of an Avios booking in June and I was charged the 35 cancellation fee.

Viaggare – what was the cash element on your booking though? Was it more than £35?

I was only charged the £35, in actual fact I was refunded the £0.50 of the original booking and my 25000 avios.

Did you cancel by phone? I’ve never seen any mechanism to charge for cancelling online, only different amounts of refunds of the cash element.

I di cancel by phone, I was not sure I could have done it online, at the time I was in hurry and situation was forced by circunmstances.

If the total taxes and fees you paid were more than £35, you’ll get the remainder refunded to your original payment method. If they were less than £35, you won’t get anything back on the cash side, but you’ll still recover your full Avios balance.
