Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Cancellation voucher return delay.

I cancelled a BA reward flight online on Wednesday 1st May and I’ve still to receive the companion voucher back into my account. I know the cash element can take several weeks, but I would like to make use of the companion voucher again. I’m loath to phone just now as I was waiting to see if the refund was still benefitting from the IT glitch that didn’t generate the £35 fee, but might be forced into calling if that’s what it takes. Appreciate any guidance.

Occasionally you need to chase the voucher, have you cancelled a booking previously as something like this can cause glitches with future bookings/cancellations? Did you not get a notification of how much you would be charged for cancelling during the process?

I would chase up the voucher sooner rather than later, either via phone or chat, they won’t even look at the cash refund element.

Thanks NL. I haven’t cancelled one since 2020 so nothing recent. The only email was the autogenerated that said I would receive an email with the breakdown in due course, nothing received yet. I’ll try the chat as suggested, thanks again.

Before you confirm that you want to cancel, you normally get a screen showing what quantity of avios and cash you’ll be refunded, but sometimes you just get a message that this will be calculated and not what it actually is! Do you recall seeing either of these? If the latter, it can sometimes cause issues with the refune.

Presumably you’re 241 hasn’t expired? Is it showing as used in your account?

There was no breakdown shown at cancellation stage. Then I received the autogenerated email saying that another email would be sent with breakdown. The voucher expiry is 02 Jan 2025 so still OK, it is showing as Used on BAEC account just now.

NL Just got through security questions for Live Chat: I’m 32nd in line! I’ll give you an update when I get it resolved. Thanks again

Great – you can get a few chores done while you’re waiting! Just FYI, if you have a long wait you might need to hit refresh a couple of times to stay connected.

I used the Live Chat. Even with being 32nd in line I was with agent within 12 minutes. the agent took time to look into cancellation and the initial response was that it would take 5 to 7 working days to go through the refund process. I pressed on the return of the companion voucher and she then got her supervisor to progress the CV return manually. It’s now back in my account. Thanks NL for suggesting the Live Chat, it has been a while since I had to phone BA but I still have memories of being on the phone for an hour then being cut off.
