Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Cancelling / moving Virgin Atlantic reward flights and booking an infant

  • 101 posts

    Hi everyone,

I’ve a dig around on the Virgin website and can’t seem to find a definitive answer to the question: what happens if I want to cancel or move my rewards flights?

For context, we’re expecting a new addition to our family end of April and have a 241 voucher expiring end of the year. We want to go to the Caribbean in Nov (and there is good availability across all destinations now). I’m worried that if we wait closer to the time to book (as we don’t know what the baby will be like), they’ll be no availability. However, if I could book now, and incur a minimal cancellation fee, that might be a good option.

Also, if I do book in advance, can I add the baby after the booking? Or does it need to be done when she arrives?

    Thanks,

Cancellation is £30 per person IIRC.

I cannot believe that Virgin would not add the baby later to an existing booking, given how flexible they are. BA would happily do this and they are far less amenable in general.

VS would indeed allow you to add a a baby to the booking at a later date.

I’ve known them add an unborn baby to a booking and then make a name and DoB change once those details are known. Best done on the phone.

Thanks Rob, helpful. Just to clarify, you’d get the points and surcharges/taxes back less the fee?

I think I’m going to go ahead and book, seems like the risk reward is in my favour.

    Thanks all
