Forums Frequent flyer programs Other frequent flyer schemes Cancelling QR award booking?

Wondering if anyone has done this and if so what the costs are? I see it’s c. £35 to cancel but the charges seemed to include a nonrefundable ticketing fee of around £100 as well. So do I get hit with that, too?

    Thanks

Did you book via QR or BA?

Cancelled several times, $25 each ticket. To get instant avios back try cancel through chat instead of online

As above, it cost me $25 to cancel recently. Or rather, $25 was deducted from my refund.
Points refunded more or less immediately, and cash took maybe a week I think.

Hi, sorry to hijack the chat but I was trying to do something similar here even though I did not manage to make the booking yet (i.e. did not pay the associate tax & fees). Note: I was trying to book PG as partner award ticket.

I have requested my avios back now that I no longer want the flight. It has been a couple day but not heard from them. Is it better to just go to chat and request the avios back? @Aston100

Updated: yes it was instant refund of avios when using Chat service. 🙂

OK, just another data point here

So I tried to cancel via chat, they asked me to do it online, I pushed back, they said no…

So I then tried to cancel online and it gave an error message

So I got back into chat and they processed the cancellation with a refund number – but here we are an hour later with no avios back in the account.

Perhaps I’m the outlier here – don’t seem to be having much luck today with travel bookings – but just an FYI…

Just to update, the points have now been refunded. So not immediate, but under 12hrs.

And just to add another data point here, I cancelled a second QR booking (needed to change the date, no option to amend seemingly??) so did it all online this time. Points back on the account again within 12 hrs.

@TRST, others. Was that a booking for a solo pax or 2 or more? If 2 or more does it give you the option to cancel for individual pax leaving others on the PNR, or did it require the whole ticket to be cancelled for all pax? Thanks.

Sorry can’t help there as it was just a booking for me.

Ok thanks, I could look at booking myself but I don’t want to risk any interference with it unless necessary as it’s just before Christmas.

Are you the guy who books up all QR availability as soon as it’s released?

Haha. No, I had to move back a trip by two days, but they had been booked as two separate itineraries because it was an open jaw.

I didn’t have enough Avios to rebook both without one of the legs being refunded.

And if you’re struggling for QR award space at LHR, check BHX. I mean departures are a sh1t show but arrivals are pretty slick so long as you don’t have bags in the hold, anyway.
