After two years of accumulating, I’ve finally got enough Avios to consider booking a business class reward flight from London to Cancun. I’m looking at a redemption cost of around 180K Avios for two seats. I also recently received my 2-4-1 voucher from American Express, which I’m hoping to utilize for this trip.
However, I’m facing some trouble with finding available flights. I’ve been checking regularly, but there doesn’t seem to be any availability, which makes me wonder if there might be a glitch or something I’m missing.
Does anyone have tips or strategies for booking? When is typically the best time to secure reward seats on this route? Any advice on navigating the booking system or using the voucher effectively would be greatly appreciated!

Cancun is a very popular destination, when do you want to travel? If at a peak period, you need to be planning 12 months out.
Have a look at the articles Rob has written on making the most of your avios and voucher – you may have more success connecting from a regional airport or booking award seats to somewhere like MIA and then connecting to CUN.

My plan was to book for Apr-May 2025Ok well read as much as you can on here. Seats are currently only released up to April 4th 2025. You will have a much better chance of success if you wait until the end of April, after the school Easter holidays.

Well it was more that we were going nowhere on the M56 near Warrington. Bloody term time traffic re-started 😂
