Helping hand & recommendations re car hire, pick up & drop at the airport – 7 days – car large enough to accommodation – 2 adults & golf clubs – late April 25?
No real status with any providers, unless you class Preferred Status with Avis.
    Thank you

Would personally go with Avis, as they have quite a big presence there and it is quite easy to find / pick up the cars.

Just be careful with timings of when you’re picking up the car, as after the big flights from USA and Brazil arrive, the desks are heaving (unless you have Avis Priv).

I’ve used Hertz, Avis, Europcar, and Sixt.

Having status helps at LIS for the reasons given above… Jumping queues can have value.

I found Hertz and Avis a much smoother process in terms of pick-up and drop-off, i.e., less hassle, less form filling and no unexplained things cropping up.

All of the desks for the main firms are next to one another and easy to find. Similarly the cars are all in the same parking lot about 90 seconds walk away.

My experience suggests that Avis and Hertz are significantly more expensive until 8-12 weeks out when their pricing becomes more competitive… especially in specific car classes. So, if you are booking now I’d recommend going for a Refundable or Pay at Desk rate.

Finally, I’d get the auto-toll enabled to save time and hassle.
