I’m sure I am being clueless here but would appreciate clarification. I’m well aware Tier point collection year ends on 31st March 2025. However, as my card end date is still 31st July 2025, do I retain silver benefits till then eg lounge access, seat selection? Or is that too much to hope for!
Apologies if this has covered many times already.
You retain all the benefits until the expiry date on the card.
I suspect the July date is an effect of the changeover to fixed years – if your previous collection year end was 8 June, then that would be the case. In future collection years end on 31 March, card expiry 30 April – I think!
Thank you. That’s what I thought, but good to hear someone else’s thoughts.
Please may I clarify my own situation. My membership year finishes on 8th November 2024 with a card expiry date of 31st December 2025. I am currently Gold, but hopefully would have got a soft landing to Silver as I’ve not achieved enough points to retain Gold. May I assume that I will retain gold benefits until December 2025. I’d be very happy if that’s the case.
I’m also (still) confused as when I requalified for Silver a couple of weeks ago, my digital membership card changed its expiry date from 31/8/25 to 30/4/26.
In another couple of weeks I should move up to Gold, so does this mean I will keep Gold until 30/4/26 OR 30/4/27 (i.e. remainder of current year, plus all the following year)?
@damboy5 have you been Gold for a while or did you gain status in the current year? It looks like you were promoted to Gold as you have the status for the rest of the current year plus the whole of the next year. So if that’s the case then yes I think you will retain gold until 31 Dec 2025. Your shortened year from 9 Nov 2024 to 31Mar2025 will determine status for the rest of the year 1Jan2026 to 30Apr2026 with any TP earned from 1Apr2024 to 8Nov2024 added again in two weeks of your reset.
@NorthernLass unfortunately I think in your case you will not get an extra year of Gold – it will also have an expiry date of 30Apr2026 but you will then have a soft landing to Silver until 30Apr2027 (assuming soft landings aren’t enhsnced away in the meantime
@AJA, that’s what I’m thinking, but still hoping for a BA IT cock-up in my favour 😂
Also weird that my membership year changed to 31/08/25 from expiry this year (when I moved down to Bronze), but then changed again when I requalified for Silver 3 weeks later.
@NorthernLass You had a soft landing from Silver down to Bronze at the end of your old year TP end date of 8Jul2024. That would mean Bronze until 31Aug2025. Slightly surprised it didn’t say 30Apr2025 ie the shortened new TP year.
Then in the current year you gained status going up from Bronze back to Silver so at that point you gain for the rest of your current year plus the whole of the next year meaning the 30Apr2026 date.
If you then gain further Gold status then the 30Apr2026 date does not change
Always happy to be corrected, but I thought that the interim year Apr 24 – Mar 25 is treated just like any other qualifying year. So qualify in that period and you should get the rest of the current year to Apr 25 plus the following year to Apr 26.

Thank you AJA.

Correct.
I got my email on Thursday as I have an 8th November collection year end date and since I have enough TPs earned since 1st April I’ve already earned gold so that expires on 30th April 2026 – as in the rest of the 1/4/24 – 31/3/25 collection year + a year (1/4/25 – 31/4/27) plus the run off month.
I wish people wouldn’t use terms like membership year. BA doesn’t – it uses collection year and card expiry (aka status expiry)
As an aside that is a clear example of where you can potentially benefit from the transition. Without any changes that would previously have been Gold in the current year until Nov 2024 plus the next year to Nov 2025, with the card expiring 31st Dec 2025. The transition period gives you a free pass through to 30th Apr 2026.
Of course if you continue to re-qualify on a rolling basis it makes no difference, but some will make clear gains from the changeover.
