Hi, I’ve got an Avios business class booking from Mexico to London with a three hour layover in Madrid (both segments are Iberia, booked through BA). An earlier short haul flight has come up so would be a two hour layover & would be on a wide body for Madrid to London, so I’m eager to change the flight
I called BA to change it but they say they can’t as it’s a ‘married segment’ so it’s impossible to cancel one segment & rebook it (I just want to move flight time), & there’s no availability on the long haul part so they can’t cancel & rebook.
I just wanted to check that this is correct & there’s no way to change flight time on one segment or if it’s an agent error? Any help would be great :o)
They will say you have to cancel and rebook. You may then have availability or not (depending if your flights go back into the system which they don’t always do).

An added complication is that these are IB flights not BAs and like BAs rewards may not go back into IB inventory.
Cancelling and rebooking is not somethign I would rely on.
@Tristoph this does indeed sound like a married segment issue where IB hasn’t paid the long haul with the flight to london on a long haul plane.
