Before going with Nationwide I just wanted to know if anyone has experienced any issues with claiming on their travel insurance. Naturally all the review sites, are some good some bad, but mostly they are complaining about the transfer of the underwriters to Aviva.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated for peace of mind, as although we are reluctant to change provider £300 is a significant amount.

I claimed on a NW policy a couple of years back. Eventually got the full amount but it was a struggle due to the “complexity” of the claim. (was simple TBHO)

Got repeated pushbacks via emails saying they had “tried to contact me ” (Blatant lie) and then my claim went to the back of the queue.

Had to complain due to this and they paid up and I got the excess back as a “sorry”.

I stopped the policy when they changed to AVIVA as if you want to extend the standard trip length it gets Very expensive.

Am with the CO-Op now. Over 70 with Mrs having medical issues it was £50 IRRC for the annual policy. Fixed 45 day trip length though.

I thought the upsell on Ezy and O’Leary air was bad but AF have just tried to sell me the following for £261 on a ticket that cost £105. Doesn’t even include lounge access, just someone to escort you to the door.

Air France’s all-inclusive service guarantees a hassle-free transfer to your next flight. Our service includes:
Aircraft-to-aircraft assistance by Air France’s concierge.
Priority throughout the airport, except for boarding.
Do you have lounge access? Air France’s concierge will escort you there and pick you up when you can board your next flight.

@CB-Root It can only be added to a physical Oyster card, hence the £7. I did it at the Visitor Centre which was well signposted and there was no queue.

Good morning from Weegie Land. I can confirm that cheap overcooked breakfast buffet Haggis in Scottish business hotels is just as bad as the wet undercooked bacon found everywhere.

If anyone has suggestions for a decent restaurant for sad lonely business trip style solo dining, vaguely near George Square then I’m all ears.

Can’t help you with Glasgow restaurants, but wanted to pass on my thanks for York restaurants that you recommended on the Radisson reviews thread – just had a few days there and ate at The Whippet Inn, Rustique and El Gaucho. Excellent food, wine selection and service at all 3.

Great to hear! We are only a small town pretending to be a city really, but I’d like to think we are welcoming to visitors and punch above our tiny weight when it comes to good independent food choices 🙂

Thanks to all for the advice on Glasgow – will look through menus now!
