    @tootsci, I second what @davefl said, especially if it’s a week day. The MAN train also serves as commuter transport for a chunk of the Manchester catchment area so I would recommend an hour extra over the minimum time you’ll need as a buffer.

    The latest post on FT suggests BA’s move to T2 will now take place in late November, however I would definitely not count on that!

    Thanks @NorthernLass. I’ll definitely stick with the plans I have been hatching over the last couple of days for an Iberian hop-around to add to the RJ tally then. Day trip MAD to Vigo and a day trip MAD to Palma de Mallorca, plus a couple of shuttles MAD-BCN over two long weekends in Jan, and a day trip LHR to Alicante in Nov so far.

    US ESTA fees will increase from $21 to $40 on Sept 30th, so get them now if you’re going to need one.

    Also I94 fee for arriving by land (example going from Vancouver to Seattle goes from $6 to $30. I94s are issued free if you arrive by Air or Sea. iI you intend to enter the US by a land border you can check if you already have a valid one here.

    @tootsci, I know Vigo quite well, having family there. There’s not really very much in the city centre, when are you planning to go? The weather very much determines what you want to be doing! VGO is a great little airport though, only a handful of flights each day so pretty much stress-free (unless you’re trying to take fossils home, lol) with a very nice lounge if you have access. If I go down the sector qualification route next year it’ll definitely be on my list.

    @davefl
    , $40 is crazy. Unfortunately there are very few other options if you want to use VS points from MAN, and don’t have the trillion required for BGI redemptions!

    @NorthernLass In January so not exactly the time of year to be on the nearby lovely-looking beaches. I’m happy enough to just wander around (probably visit the fortress), sit in a cafe and people watch, but any suggestions you have would be good.

    The pics of the VGO lounge on the PP app remind me of the lounge at Trujillo airport in Peru I was in a couple of months ago – practically on the runway!

    That’s not a bad idea if it’s dry, you might get some nice views of the estuary. Plenty of cafes and also shopping opportunities if you room in your bag! There is a branch of El Corte Ingles if you like it.
