Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Companion voucher booking – anything else needed?

  • 113 posts

Hi All – I made a companion voucher booking on Iberia today by phoning BA. After about 8hrs of the call, i have now received an ‘e-ticket receipt’.
Is this the last step? Is this is the same as the e-ticket and should I consider the booking process complete now?
    Thanks!

Is there a ticket number (starting 125-) for each passenger in the email? If so, that’s it. Worth checking that the avios have been taken, and that the the charge appears on your Amex account, but yes it all sounds like it should.

Won’t it have an 075- number if it’s an IB flight, even if booked via BA?
Anyway, there was a long thread recently on whether the email receipt was enough. At the risk of restarting an argument I would say that practically speaking it is enough to show things have worked; but since it takes so little effort to check your avios balance, cc statement, and MMB for a ticket number (if it isn’t in your email) it is sensible to do so.

@zio – no BA cannot write/issue tickets on IB stock. Tickets are negotiable instruments that can be cashed in by other airlines, so it would be like writing a cheque on someone else’s account.

PS and again without wishing to resuscitate that old thread, a receipt is just that. It’s not a valid travel document, so it’s worth checking for the e-ticket.

    Thanks all!
    I can confirm that I –
    1. There is a ticket number starting with 125- in the receipt
    2. Avios have been debited
    3. Card has been charged
    4. The booking is showing in MMB on both BA and Iberia

I guess that should be it?
I’ll perhaps still call up Iberia and confirm once.

@as02 – one small precision. It’s in the app you need to see a ticket number against every passenger for every sector. It’s rarely an issue that you won’t find that ticket number for an online booking but for any booking made over the telephone or particularly any change/ disruption rebooking made via any channel, errors creep in.
