Does the companion voucher on the Reward Plus credit card get issued as soon as you spend £10k or at the exact 12 month mark providing you’ve spent £10k?
Am I right in thinking you will get an email saying when the voucher is ready and you have to redeem it over the phone – not online?
Do you also have to use it at the time of purchase? Or could I purchase 1 seat now in the Black Friday sale then use the voucher to get another in a couple of months time when it comes through?
Thanks,
Ryan
Voucher is issued on or thereafter the statement date after you hit 10k. You don’t get an email, but it appears as “credit card reward voucher 0 points” on your FC online account.
Not sure what you are asking for in the last paragraph, but voucher is valid for 2 years from issuance. It’s officially a book and travel by date.
It looks like you need to do a bit of reading up on how to get the best out of the voucher, but briefly, you can use it online (in most cases) and it should be visible in your BAEC account shortly after your qualifying spend posts, usually within 24 – 72 hours.
You can only use it for reward bookings (i.e. made with avios), but there’s nothing to stop you using it for 50% off the avios needed for one ticket if there’s availability. Obviously if you buy a cash ticket you can’t 100% guarantee that there will be reward availability on the same route.

The thread is about Virgin Atlantic, not London Airways.
Yes, you will also receive an email (well i did a few weeks ago for my latest voucher)

My bad, ignore me!
Is the voucher issues when £10k is reached on statements or more in terms of real-time spend? I’ve hit £9.5k on statement have gone over £10k based on current spend?
Thanks,
Ryan
I had the email almost as soon as I’d passed the £10k this year, didn’t have to wait until the next statement date.
I have just done an online chat and have had it confirmed that the voucher is triggered on the statement date and not halfway through the month (if you hit £10k) which is a shame as I want to use my voucher 8 days before the statement date! as I have just spent over £10k during the month!
Real life :-
Statement date 3rd Dec-Spend up to that point £9960
4th Dec Spend £46
8th Dec. Received email to say “You’ve bagged yourself a Reward voucher”
3rd January Next statement date
Just to confirm I am talking about the Virgin Voucher, Well I hope mine works the same as yours! I have done 2 online chats and have got the same answer! I have exceeded the £10K spend now (Statement date 8th Dec – £9782), now spent another £402, so well over!
Login to your Virgin red account (app should be fine) and check for any entries for zero points, with a description “You have qualified for a credit card reward voucher”.
Not visible in the Virgin Red Acct, hopefully it will appear before I want to book at the end of Dec.
It’s not in Virgin Red, it’s in Flying Club!
Ok – its not in the Flying Club acct at the moment!
I found the following in the T&C’s
Earning Virgin Atlantic Reward+ Credit Card Flying Club Reward Vouchers
4.The reward will automatically be added to your Flying Club account within 30 days of earning it. It’ll be ready to spend straightaway.Reference:https://www.virginatlantic.com/gb/en/flying-club/credit-card.html#reward+
So if this is the case, I would have thought it is on the Statement date, so lets wait and see.
It’s within days of the spend clearing (which is usually 3 days after the spend takes place). Nothing to do with statement date.
Note the spend requirement excludes the £160 fee, so you’re looking for a total spend of £10,160 inclusive of the fee to obtain the voucher. So you may have hit it a little later than you think you have.
I am now well over the £10K spend plus the £160 (all cleared, not pending), so hopefully I will get it soon. Why is it so difficult to ascertain when I receive it? I have done 2 online chats and have been told twice that it is after the statement date!

Mine is visible in Virgin red account.
Still no sign of my Companion Voucher!
Success!! Virgin Atlantic Credit Card Reward Voucher has now appeared in my VA Flying acct! So that took around 8 days to get to my acct after spending £10K. So that was after being told twice from VA Credit Card that I receive it after my statement date (8th of Jan).
