Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Comparison for refund speed

I’ve switched my summer trip from Thailand to Canada, which required canceling reservations with four different airlines—all booked using points redemption tickets. Now that a week has passed since the cancellations, I thought it would be useful to compare the refund processes:

British Airways: Cancelled online. Points were refunded immediately, and the cash refund was processed the next working day.
Qatar Airways: Cancelled online. Points were refunded the next day, and the cash refund was processed on the fourth working day.
Virgin Atlantic: Cancelled over the phone. Points were refunded immediately, but the cash refund is still pending.
Finnair: Cancelled over the phone. Neither points nor cash have been refunded yet. According to their email, the process will take 4–6 weeks.

I think Virgin are generally a bit slow with cash refunds. I got one a couple of days ago from a flight I cancelled over 2 weeks ago, although of course there were 3 bank holidays over that period.

    That’s bad with Finnair though!

Next working day for BA is astonishing.

I had a cancellation on an avios booking due to one of the storms at the end of November. The avios were recredited within 5-minutes. But six-weeks later, alsolutely no sign of the fee paid being refunded. Its only £17.50 so not exactly an enormous financial issue, but together with our pre-New-Year “present”, further evidence of exactly what BA thinks of its loyal customers.
