Hi
I’m a legacy Creation Premium Card holder.
Prior to the new rewards system going live, and probably CoVid can anyone recall where we stood with points?
I’m fairly sure that the card gave us Platinum status and the equivalent number of points for that level, that meant there was less of a spend/ nights required to hit Spire.
I don’t remember having Platinum Status and starting point collecting from scratch.
I’ve been lucky with spend in the last couple of years and the reduction in requirements for Diamond but I’m not sure I can spend/ stay enough to keep Diamond.
Thanks
My understanding was that having the Creation card gave you Platinum status in IHG. And then any spend you made on the card went as both points and status onto your IHG account.
There was nothing about being given the number of points for Platinum however, so you need to earn the points to get anything above Platinum as standard. It’s just that your spend would count towards those points.
I can’t remember hence the question.
Maybe the jump from Platinum to Spire wasn’t that big in comparison to Platinum to Diamond now and that’s what’s making me think differently.
Spire was sometimes automatically renewed without meeting the requirements, and buying / renewing Ambassador also would renew Spire.
The card gave you platinum but it didn’t give you any other leg up. To get to spire you had to get there on nights/points.
Didn’t one of the old Marriott cards give you nights or status points once a year? IHG definitely did not do this though.
