    Looking to book a last minute trip to Bangkok or close by country, I don’t mind positioning in Europe. What is the current best value redemption to look out for?

    Emirates redemption was something stupid like 480,000 points and £3k for 2 people, and KLM was about 460,000 and £1300

    I have lots of Amex, Virgin and BA points. Are there some better award redemption deals out there currently?

    Maybe look at Qatar for Avios redemptions? ‘Single Avios’ rate for business class would be 75k pp each way. At short notice availability may be tricky but if you are flexible on starting location, obviously QR fly from lots of UK and European cities.For example I could see outbound from Birmingham to BKK via DOH on 17 September….

    Brilliant thank you! Didn’t think to look from Birmingham

    You may struggle from Birmingham too as most flights from FOH-BKK I’ve looked at lately require 2x points in J or F.

    LL airfare of the day a few days ago ARN-BKK with Finnair was €1500ish so you might want to explore that.

    Nothing available with BA and RJ using avios?

    BA or Virgin to India on abios/points might work for you in conjunction with 3h LCC to Bangkok.

    @BJ
    Was thinking about you when that AY fare offer popped up on LL the other day. Didn’t realise it was for September only. Would have jumped on it for our February trip… still waiting for the next QR sale…

    @Polly, sadly no good for me this month either, Oktoberfest coming up 🙂 Good luck for February! I’m focusing on amassing avios again in the hope that nothing changes and we can fly EDI-BKK-EDI on AY J for 62k avios and minimum fees each way when Finnair comes into play. Qatar already great at 75k each way but Sofalounge is a far better bed than anything Qatar has and I think I still prefer the one long flight to the two shorter ones even if it means ‘short’ hop on an E190. Bottom line, I’m totally happy with either if they’re available when I need them.

    @BJ, @Polly – so I guess we’re just all forgetting about the “LHR-BKK maybeeee in 2024”?!
    If Finnair used vouchers, that would be fab. Also happy with a HKG tie-in, but that would
    be back to the midnight+one second nights, zzzzz…! And is there never ever anything direct to KUL?!

    @Michael, I’m thinking BA will not return to BKK until 2025 when new longhaul aircraft arrives. Perhaps sooner if tve Americas demand continues to cool. However, like @LadyLondon, I believe Qatar may be exerting on fluence on IAG heading East and if so I doubt we’ll see BA direct to BKK again as I expect Qatar will want to restablush Thailand as their largest market. I’ve seen a few LHR-KUL reward seats on MAS but they seem to have becone very rare. I always consider it to expensive anyway.
