Anyone know if 4829 or 6012 will incur the 5%? This is for a wise money transfer.
Yes of course it will with VA. Only ATM withdrawals won’t, interestingly I did £700 cash withdrawal last month just testing the system and there were no fees nor from Curve nor from VA.
So is there a final asnwer on this? I took out the Virgin card 3 months ago and want to use Curve to avoid the foreign transaction fee on some flight bookings. Are Virgin likely to apply fees?
No, you’ll be fine. Virgin only take a hardline on cash advances.
Anyone else getting an awful lot of virgin via curve transactions failing for the last few days? Has something changed?
Not really spotted a pattern – includes amazon and uber.
Used Curve backed with Virgin Atlantic card for an Amazon purchase yesterday and it worked perfectly fine.

Yep something odd is happening, I paid for something ( just retail) in USD with Curve linked to VS rewards plus and Virgin card charged me foreign exchange fee even tho it was through curve! So odd and it happened some other transactions too ( a flight with in OTa) but others not, cannot see any patterns but makes it hard to trust using VA card now, once I hit the next voucher I’m ditching the card!
Not experienced this with Barclays Avios cards
I’ll see how it functions in Spain next week for small purchases, but it would still be fairly to trigger the voucher without Curve, e.g. energy top ups and anywhere else which doesn’t take Amex!
Virgin also block some financial services transactions so they decline. I have Curve registered Debit card with an investment platform to pay fees, forgot to switch back to another underlying card from Virgin and declined. At least saved a cash advance fee.

err, why would you use Virgin Atlantic behind Curve in Spain when the Virgin Atlantic cards are FX free in the EU?
Because I can’t be doing with taking lots of cards away with me! Curve, Revolut, one Amex, one debit card for emergencies, that’s it.

But why not the Virgin instead of the Curve for this trip?

You should have bought an Amazon gift card at Swiipi and get 10% off
Cash.
Yep, that makes sense.

Cheers @Rui N. I will look into that for my next Amazon purchase.👍

Okay, now I’ve read @SteveJ’s post, I now see what you’re replying to, and I would only take two cards…Virgin Atlantic for purchases and Curve linked to Virgin or another points earning card (Hilton Barclaycard for me) for cash. Possibly 3, if you wish to take Revolut for emergency back-up. I don’t have an Amex which I would use abroad, so I assume you have a PRG.
@Harrier25, if I buy things at a UK airport I’ll pay with Amex, and sometimes I’ll be using an Amex offer abroad, e.g. paying for a hotel. I don’t have Apple pay, though even if I did I’d probably still carry cards in case I lost my phone!
Okay, @NorthernLass, noted. Enjoy your well earned break in Spain.
My conclusion is that the Uber/Amazon rejects were just a coincidence, but virgin have widened their range of transactions that they reject as being ‘financial’
