Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Damaged baggage replacement options

    Hi,

A few months ago I filed a damaged baggage claim for two luggage’s, and ‘K2 GLOBAL’ has finally got in contact with me, they damaged two of my checked baggage and seems like they are only offering one luggage. ‘Based on the information received relating to your damaged item, we would recommend replacement by one of the following products:’, also to note the replacements are from them themselves, a non brand somewhat badly reviewed suitcase. I was hoping they would send me a replacements of my exact suitcases or the cash value, is there another option I can choose rather than pick the options they gave me?

They have offered me the following
    Wessex 2.0 Silver
    Wessex 2.0 Black
    Shield Elite IV Black
    Shield Elite IV Graphite

Which are all K2 global products, bearing in mind they damaged a samsonite and a swiss suitcase of mine. Has anyone else had this experience and had a much better outcome?

A K2 Global cabin bag I got to replace a Samsonite that BA broke was damaged in two trips. Not really fit for purpose.

If the damage done to your cases can be repaired I would recommend you ask for that. Otherwise they tend to ask how much you paid and for how long you had the suitcase and then pay you an amortized value which won’t be enough to buy a new bag outright.

Any chance you know how they calculate this arbitrary number?

This is from Iberia in case that helps:

We are pleased to inform you that, after studying your case, we will pay you the sum of 85,73 GBP / 100 € by deposit in a bank account of which you are the holder provided to us.

The ammount compensated is the value of the suitcase minus the 10% yearly usage depreciation (200 € – 50% = 100 €)

Last March K2 replaced my damaged case and I’m more than happy with it.

More robust than the unbranded one I had.

    It’s certainly lasted more trips!

They sent me links to 6 alternatives to choose from.
