Difficulty with Reward booking. Avios + cash.

Hi,

I’ve been trying to book a reward flight and I’m short of about 5000 Avios. No trouble I would have thought, I can pay a higher cash component.

I go through the payment page and clear the credit card verification but the confirmation page says:

NEED FORM OF PAYMENT. Booking status: on-hold.

There’s a yellow button to pay now. So of course I’ve tried this, but I get back to the same messages on the confirmation page.

I’ve tried all browsers and cards and have been on the phone to the customer service team but no luck…

Any thoughts on how to work through this? I am considering buying some Avios and making the booking as 100% Avios to see if it works…

Or is this a problem with phantom availability?

Which program/airline is this? You’ve posted under Other frequent flyer schemes so not BA?

Why could CS not book it? Did they confirm availability?

Also have you tried a different browser?
