    Hello all,

    I’m looking at travelling to (or via) Shanghai, and I went to VS website to have a look for how much a cash ticket might cost, but as you put Shanghai into the search engine, (without putting in any dates) it blanks out cash and cash and points mix options, it only gives the option to search for reward seat availability.

    What’s weird is that a one-way ticket (LHR-PVG) is bookable with the usual payment options…

    I know that for some reason (I think due to Detla’s stake in the company) when the Havana route was alive, there couldn’t be any cash bookings via the website, I’ve got no idea why there’s a problem with the Shanghai route.

    I tried calling CS department, unfortunately the agent I got put through to wasn’t fully understanding of the problem, and I’ll try again probably tomorrow !

    Anyone else know what’s going on here, or why this problem is coming up at all ?

    No idea why it’s broken, but search on skycanner and click through works for me…

    I just done a dummy return booking entering PVG as the airport code and yes the results page does come up with only points.

    But on the results page where there is a line saying “Outbound LHR – PVG” to the right there is a line that says “show prices in” and below that “GBP Points”

    I clicked on GBP and it gave me cash prices.

    It’s then able to choose cabin and move onto the page to enter passenger details.

    Yes, you still need to obtain a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) from BA to file a claim with Amex Platinum insurance. The PIR is an essential document that serves as official documentation of the damage to your luggage.     After I posted this, I tried doing a search of PVG-LHR only, and that like the outbound dummy search gave all the usual payment options, and didn’t limit availability to reward seats only, although the prices are in Chinese Yuan

    I called VS yesterday, and told them about the issue, the agent checked herself and noticed the problem.

    She said she’ll get the IT department notified about the issue, so they’ll need to get it fixed, how long it’ll take is another mystery in itself.

    It’s worked out well though, as due to the Black Friday sale, there’s plenty of reward availability (not so much in G, but it’s a 789 being used for the route, so the seat won’t be anywhere near as good as their newer fleet’s UC experience), and it’s definitely cheaper than cash prices !
