    Hello all,

I hope someone might know the answer.

We are booked with BA Holidays to Abu Dhabi via Doha. Flying Club World to Doha but then onto Abu Dhabi in economy for some reason (ticketed together).

Can we access the Qatar Business lounges or will we need to use the OneWorld status Qatar lounges?

    Thanks for your help.

That’s going to be a bit of a faff, especially given that BA is re-starting direct flights to AUH next month! We flew into DOH a couple of months ago and it took nearly an hour just to get off the plane and into the terminal, though you should be off quicker in CW.

I would guess if your onward journey is in economy you’ll only have access to lounges with OW status – Rhys did a review of these not so long ago. We used the Gold lounge (which confusingly is for BA Silver/OW Sapphire pax), it was pleasant enough but quite full and the food was quite basic.

I am pretty sure you are entitled to access the lounge as long as you arrived on CW. The issue is more likely to be the lounge access staff at DOH. It’s a very busy terminal and they scan BPs for access at the bottom of the escalator going up to the lounge, so I suspect it will be luck of the draw whether they let you in.

The key is to avoid the attendants at the bottom of the escalator by taking the lift and see the lounge attendant staff at reception who are more likely know the rules better

I think this is right – you get access to the Al Safwa lounge if you are transferring to or from a regional “first class” flight.

Neither of those applies though, they are transferring from a long haul flight to an economy regional one.
