Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Dubai flight cancelled whilst on holiday

  • 281 posts

As the title says, i am on holiday in dubai through ba holidays and got an email advising my return flight has been canceled on 25th May so to choose another flight.

Next available flights is 26th so can book that and pay for another night at my hotel and claim this back by the looks of things. Is there anything else i am missing bar the 2 calls and meals as they have advised more than 14 days of cancellation but im on holiday so does that change anything compo wise?

Also thinking this is a good way to extend my holiday by say a week as can choose a few weeks after 25th may so i might even do that and book my hotel, obviously cant claim anything back from doing this but is definitely an option for me

More than 14 days so as you say no compensation.

Duty of care is until “next available flight” so if there was one the next day they would pay for the hotel but if you want to stay longer that’s on you.

Just find another return flight and ask to be out there (but check before extending your stay just in case they say no and insist on a specific date).

Actually being away does not affect the compensation element so as you’ve been given more than 14 days notice then none is payable

The duty of care elements do apply though.

As this is a BA holiday and the hotel is included you can check with them to see if they can sort the extra night at the hotel for you rather than you doing it and claiming it back. Might be cheaper for them but that’s a logic that may not apply to BA!

Thanks guys, thats kinda what I thought. The hotel just said to extend online when i spoke to them. On the BA portal it lets me choose flights into June so will choose a flight first before extending anything else, have a few weeks left before the flight but will keep an eye on the availability daily just in case

Arrrr, took to long to rebook, so the booking portal is telling me to call the call center 🙁 snooze you lose, Lucky the extra hotel i booked is refundable as i was planning to stay an extra week

You should call BA holidays- I think they would have sent you a number for any problems whilst you are away. They’d likely arrange for your extra hotel night and rebook your flight

    Update.
After many calls from the hotel’s reception phone and ‘sorry I cant help’ i got an email address for ba holidays I asked them to move my flight by a week rather than the next day and they replied and rebooked me for a week later within an hour. Can’t grumble at that but wish the first agent helped with the email address on their call.

They did ask about the hotel situation and i probably could have blagged an extra night in my current hotel and then booked and paid for 6 days myself but just kept the transaction clean and separated.

Email address they gave me: Duty Office <Duty.Office@holidays.britishairways.com>
