Hi

Can I check with regards to elite benefits when it comes to breakfast / welcome points

Is it either or both as there has been some inconsistencies recently across the brands

Over the last 2 months I’ve stayed at Marriott , le meridian , w , st Regis , tribute, AC and autograph

Some have given breakfast and welcome points due to elite status , some have said it’s either or ?

However depending on location the same brand for example W , one location gives both , another it’s either or ?

W Bangkok both , W macau either , W London both

The breakfast benefits (which are a combination of both the lounge access benefit and welcome gift benefit) vary by brand, and then within brand by whether the location is a resort and which global region it is in.

It is all in the T&Cs, but I find the summary on flyertalk a decent quick reference, will try and copy it here:

Daily Breakfast for Platinum Elite and Above

Six categories:

1. Breakfast for member + 1 in the lounge. If the hotel does not have a lounge or the lounge is closed, member can choose 750 points OR continental breakfast for member + 1 in the restaurant. Any of these benefits are in addition to the Platinum Elite welcome gift.

— Autograph Collection (excluding resorts)
— Courtyard (properties with a lounge only; Asia, Australia, Pacific Islands, Caribbean, Mexico, Central America, South America, the Middle East, and Africa only)
