Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Email with someone else’s Exec Club details

  • 227 posts

Not for the first time I have received an email from BA about “my” executive club account but it contains someone else’s details entirely. While this doesn’t in itself cause any particular issues, it does make me wonder how much of MY information is being sent to others in error.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

Report it to BA – just in case there is a problem in future, then they can’t claim ignorance/innocence.

Fwiw I’ve never had this happen, so if it is something you’ve seen before, perhaps there’s an issue with your account inside BA systems.

If there is info disclosed about the other person that you would not want disclosed about yourself, you could report it to ICO, but I’d guess anything in a generic BAEC email would be low in their priorities.

BTW their DPO’s e mail address is dpo@ba.com

My dad (same name, different email address) has received my Hilton emails from time to time. That’s a genuine back office error.

But some other misdirected emails should be treated cautiously as potentially an early step in a phishing scam.

    Oof. Nice data breach.

I’d agree to potentially treat as phishing. Also report it to BA’s DPO and change your password just in case (yes I’m paranoid).
