QF in a member of oneworld so their points can be used to book BA/Oneworld flights, not particularly good value (more useful for Australia domestic), but if you are unlikely to collect enough EK points to redeem on EK then you may as well go for QF

If you search for ‘Qantas points calculators’ you can get an idea of whether Qantas points might be useful for you. In addition to the Australian domestic routes @John mentioned, it could be worth looking at routes within North America.

They also have some non-OneWorld partners in addition to Emirates, such as Westjet and Air France but I am not familiar with the details for redeeming points on those.

You can collect avios on some Emirates routes to Dubai & Asia, as long as they have a QF flight number. Note you can’t book this on the Emirates website, I had to use a travel agent when I did it earlier in the year on a trip via Dubai.
