Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Flying business to Mauritius

I’m looking to travel in July, BA direct has no Avios availability unsurprisingly at this point. Any recommendations for routes with their partners if I fly from London to somewhere in Europe or beyond possibly using a stopover? I also have a good stash of virgin miles so any options there would be good, again flying from London to ‘somewhere’ on a route with generally ok availability and then taking a flight from there to Mauritius. Thanks!

Sadly, QR doesn’t fly to MRU, so connecting from DOH isn’t an option with avios. You would very likely be able to get a cash flight from another ME city like DXB, but I think these can be quite pricy, which might defeat the object of using avios!

The flight connections.com website is really useful for seeing which airlines fly where. Start from MRU and you will see all routes and airline options.

*There is PE and Y availability in July on BA showing on SeatSpy, if you could cope with either of those!

Thanks! Maybe I could get to Doha with Avios and pay cash for a flight there if it’s a bit shorter and go premium or economy. I’ve barely researched but Saudia apparently fly there and I remember seeing some good redemption rates on Virgin. Will have to properly research but hoping someone on here has booked similarly!

If there’s availability, BA to Johannesburg and then a cash fare from there.

Very small business cabins to MRU (just 32 seats) like other LGW long haul routes so always hard and unlikely additional seats open up. Air France flight direct from Paris. If you have VS points you might want to try them though I image availability is tight. Emirates fly from Dubai so you could Avios to there and then look at revenue flights (leaving contingency given you won’t be on through tickets). Similar options to connect on to revenue from Avios would be Nairobi, Cape Town and Johannesburg. Avios Flights easier to come by for some of those than others…

There are connections from several Indian cities, but tbh, unless you’ve a pressing reason to visit this July, @sturgeon, I’d suggest finding somewhere else to go this summer and try for the direct flight to MRU at T-355. There are J seats outbound for January 13th and 15th next year, so it looks like they’re not even getting snapped up that quickly so far out.

An option where you could use avios most of the way, however, would be to fly UK-DOH-MAHE on QR, then get a connecting flight to MRU, which is only 2 1/2 hours away. DOH-MAHE is probably doable in economy if there are no J seats left, especially if you can bag an extra legroom seat.

Indeed, if you have enough time, a 2-centre trip to Seychelles and Mauritius sounds divine!
