Hi all.
New to AMEX and could not find anything like this from searching..
Regarding bonus target spending and Avios etc – how long does it take to appear? Transactions seem to be pending for about 2.5 / 3 days which is normal.
They now cleared, but my bonus spend is still £0 out of £3000. When and how do they convert my spend into a 1:1.5 ratio for Avios and things like that?
Could not really find any information on the account / site so if anyone that’s experienced can give a short rundown, that would be great regarding timeframes, what to watch out for, any mistakes to avoid etc.
I suppose there isn’t a hard and fast rule for this, but the day I earned my welcome bonus Avios (i.e. the day that I saw a change in the Amex app), I could see that the “transaction date” on which the bonus was earned was four days prior.
So bonus spend might take ~4 days to be updated in your app?
I can’t answer re the bonus spend target but there is a separate tab in your AMEX account which records the Avios received for spending on the card – it usually takes a couple of days to appear once they transactions have gone from pending to appearing on the statement. The date is the same as the transaction date on the statement.
The Avios themselves are only transferred to your BAEC once per month. There is no particular date for this to happen but depends on your monthly statement date and once set they transfer within a day of the same date every month. My card statement date is 13th or 14th of the month and the transfer of Avios to BAEC goes across around 8th or 9th of each month so roughly 5 or 6 days before my statement date. Any Avios earned after 4th of each month will only transfer the following month.
Hi all – thanks. I guess I’ll wait a few days and see how the trackers and things like that look. Want to ensure all works as it should, rather than wait and not flag it to them.
Yeah, 5/6 days seems like the time. Do you see Avios on your BAEC the same day it leaves your AMEX or there’s a delay there too?
