Hi All,
I’ve had my UK Gold card for just over a year now (14 months) and want to upgrade to platinum via the upgrade offer but I am not yet eligible. I know I can apply for platinum separately but I won’t get the points. I just wanted to know if others had upgraded and how long it took for the upgrade offer to become available.

Is it the case that when you click on the upgrade offer you get a message that you’re not eligible? I don’t think there’s any standard period of time for this and it’s never guaranteed, however there is a link floating round this site somewhere which is supposed to still work!
I waited for over two years for it to appear on my Gold Business.

Yes that’s the offer I tried using but it says I don’t have an eligible card. I called them and they said they don’t know when I might get an offer.
If it was a fairly standard X months then I might wait but I am traveling a lot at the moment so I think I could make use of the Platinum card benefits. If its going to be another year I might just apply normally and skip the signup bonus.
What time of day did you try upgrading?
I was told by CS that it can only be done during working hours. Indeed, after two unsuccessful attempts to upgrade during the night, it was approved the third time which was early afternoon.
Yes they said there is no upgrade offer currently available and they don’t know when it might come up. They said I can apply for the platinum card but I wont be eligible for any reward.

Yes I figured their call center moves depending on the time of day, the first time I called was in the evening but I called yesterday at around 10 and still couldn’t get the upgrade.

Peculiarly I was never able to upgrade my Gold to Plat, but it did let me use the same link to upgrade ARCC to Platinum, and awarded the same 100k offer.
When the Gold was on a separate online login, it wouldn’t work, when I combined them, it wouldn’t let me pick the Gold, so I upgraded the ARCC and cancelled the Gold.
You have to meet a certain set of criteria that are not published according to the customer service team. Spending, previous credit etc…
I got an offer to upgrade after 8 months, everyone I spoke to said this would only be after 12 months at least.
