Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Google flights itinerary not bookable on BA? (TP Run)

  • 40 posts

I’m in the planning stage of a short tier point run to get me over the 1500 line. Itineraries I’m looking at are all to be completed in 1 day.
I’ve found an ideal itinerary on Google Flights using multi-city trip, as follows:
    LHR-NCL
    NCL-LHR-AMS
    AMS-LCY/LGW

However, when clicking through to BA I get an error message saying some of the flights are no longer available. I’m assuming the error is because they are all taking place on the same day.

Anyone know of a workaround or if this would be bookable with BA over the phone?

    Any advice appreciated.

Are you looking at back to back flights at NCL or AMS?

The flight to and from NCL are very likely back to back as there’s only 55 mins between them, but surely Google shouldn’t be displaying it as an option if that’s the issue.
Strangely I have actually plugged in the exact same itinerary on BA and it is bookable that way, it’s just significantly more expensive.
There must be a way to book at the GF quoted price, no?

My guess is google flights may be assuming you don’t want the flights on one ticket, whereas BA does and has priced accordingly.

BA has not always access to the fares you see. For instance an itinerary with multiple airlines may be accesible to travel agents only.

If BA cannot price that even over the phone you will need to use another airline or travel agent.

There are some websites that specialise on these harder to do routes (you fill a form and they prepare everything for you).

Don’t always trust Google flights and try ITA Matrix to double check.

Google is only as good as the searches it does. It doesn’t always get it right whether that be on MCTs or picking up correct pricing.

Sometimes it picks up cheaper fares with no bags yet a search with BA does include bags and so on.

I just did a LHR-NCL dummy booking for the same day. It clearly wanted a greater MCT than a back to back on the same ticket

The back to back on separate tickets arrives at 08.40 and would allow you to get the 09.30 flight back on a separate ticket. But on the same ticket it offers the 11.05 as the earliest return flight so it looks like the MCT kicks in and prevents the booking,

What about booking LHR-NCL as a one way then the rest of the trip on another ticket?

I’m not sure phone agents can override the MCT but it would be worth a call just to ask.

Google flights has filter for one ticket only, you have to click on all filters options and scroll all the way down.
