Rex Rental sign franchise agreement with renowned car hire firm and multinational company, Hertz

We are happy to announce that as of the 1st of June, Rex Rental will become Hertz Isle of Man. We are to become a full franchise of Hertz, one of the leading names in the global vehicle rental market.

I booked a car on the Isle of Man via the Avis website. This was a franchise operation. I then decided to use taxis instead so cancelled the car via the Avis website, which was confirmed by e-mail.

Unfortunately, Avis didn’t tell the franchisee, so I got a slightly terse call from them as I headed away from the airport. They weren’t very impressed – these franchise arrangements do seem unnecessarily disjointed when they work (in my experience) perfectly well in the US with HLE…

When it comes to car rentals I’ve always found independent firms only based in a single country/area (or max 2-3 countries) to be much better than the multinational chains.
