Hilton 100% buying points bonus

Hi all,

Looking at a Dubai 7-night stay next year.

Are there any particular hotels in Dubai (or RAK) where I can take advantage of this offer.

I’ve tried a few Hilton properties – Hilton Palm, Conrad (where I’ve stayed previously) and also the Waldorf Palm. But even with the 100% bonus on points purchase, I’m barely saving £100 by doing a points redemption over the Hilton Honors rate (where I’d obviously earn base and my bonus diamond points on top).

Any suggestions?

Try over Christmas, Easter and October half term and you’ll save a fortune.

Outside that, it’s not necessarily going to work.

The way Hilton works now is that your return per point is pretty much fixed (at less than the purchase price) unless cash rates are so high that the property hits its points cap. Those are the nights you use points.

Hear hear. These deals are great when cash prices are really steep – you can usually find $1,000 a night rooms for 110,000 points in The Maldives for e.g.

The new SLH properties can be a good deal – I’ve just booked one in the Bahamas at $1000 per night for 100k points per night.

@Rob just rechecked it for next Easter and getting almost a £700 saving for 6-night stay at Waldorf Palm by using the bonus point purchase offer.

Does anyone know how the arrangement between Hilton and SLH properties works for points bookings? I’ve made two SLH bookings now (in Mallorca and Bali) where the cash rate was c.$8000 for 5 nights but the points cost me c.$2500 in this promotion – what will Hilton actually pay the property?

Is it possible/OK to buy points in USD rather than getting legged over by the points.com exchange rate and paying more in GBP. It will make a considerable saving when purchasing a large amount of points. Thanks.

I can currently only see an 80% bonus when going on to the ‘Buy Points’ page on the Hilton website. Is there likely to be a 100% buying points bonus anytime soon?

FYI. When buying Hilton/Marriott/IHG etc. points, go through TCB USA for another 2.52% off. Buy in $ after you setup a fake (or genuine) US address and turn back to UK address after the points have deposited. Cash out via PayPal or various gift cards.
