Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Hopefully quick tier point query re length of BA status

Just trying to get my head around tier points as we have never flown enough on cash fares to generally worry about them.

My wife is bronze but with 0 tier points so far this year. Her collection year ends 8th November and card expiry is 31st Dec.

She has a holiday booking in May which MMB says is worth 230 TP. Its a 7 night holiday with hotels included for all nights albeit split across 2 different hotels but should be eligible for the double TP promo. 460 TP would be enough for Silver but how long would she have this benefit? Until the end of the year?

Yes she’d get silver if she earns 450 TP before 8 Nov 2022 *and* has 4 BA (or IB) flights.

Assuming she also takes 4 flights would she lose the silver benefit at the end of 2022 or end or 2023?

Thanks, just need to decide whether its worth booking 2 additional cash flights. If it was me i’d just book a day return somewhere on my own but she may take more convincing…..

Status is for the remainder of the membership year in which it is earned, plus the following membership year, plus the ~2 month period for which card expiry goes beyond membership year. So in your case status until 31st Dec 2023.

The value to her is really about how many economy flights requiring lounge access and seat reservations she’ll be making over the next 18 months. There’s a marginal improvement in some other things like Avios earnings per flight. I suggest you do the maths for her if she’s feeling unconvinced.

Conversely, add up the cost of the likely paid-for seat reservations and lounge passes and ask is this worth a day of my life and £x for the unnecessary flights?
