Sorry for beginners question. Any downside of setting one of these up at all?
I am looking to travel with OH but want to combone out Avios for obvious reasons.
If I have an Amex 241, can I still use this and use points from a household account? Just trying to figure out if there are any downsides to creating one at all?
Yes, it’s a handy facility for using your own voucher & pool OH’s Avios amongst its various other functions. Not suggesting applicable to your situation at all but would need to consider the 3Ds as a recent poster beautifully summarised:
Disagreement, Divorce, Departure…
Especially worthwhile if you have kids as you can use their Avios that they’ve earned from flights.
I suggest you pose any remaining queries after reading this and related HfP articles

The second link re F&F itemises disadvantages of household accounts and how F&F might be an optimal alternative.
