I am guessing that the ‘Members save more’ rate is not going to trigger the cashback offer? It requires an ‘instant’ deposit (1 night)

If it’s like the IHG and Hilton offers, as long as you spend the required amount in total the cash back should be triggered. I booked 2 pre-paid Hilton stays separately and it triggered the £50 back.

Anybody else have any experience with this from previous Amex offers? Amex terms say checkout spend only, I’m looking at an advance purchase rate that says they take 3 nights upfront as a deposit. Anyone know if this will work, does the deposit get put through again as a purchase at the hotel?

If I have to use the standard rate rather than advance then that eats up most of the saving..

I’m planning a stay at the Hyatt Centric Venice which isn’t on the confirmed hotels list. Does anyone see a pattern at why certain hotels aren’t on the list and would I be able to get them to charge £250 (equivalent thereof) ahead of booking and see if it triggers the offer?

Hotels in Italy are rarely included in these offers.

Actually this time around Rome and Florence properties are included!

However if it is not on the list it won’t trigger.

Question for those in the know on this offer. I need a night in Cambridge which I could book at the Hyatt Centric, even though its slightly out of town. That won’t get me to £250,but the better half is having afternoon tea at the Great Scotland Yard Hotel later this month (but isn’t staying there). The two together would come to £250,but will restaurant only spend count for the offer?

You can never be sure – it depends if the restaurant has its own credit card account or if they go through the hotel account. This varies by property.

It seems like an impossible offer to redeem due to the requirement for prepayment and no obvious way to pay for any bookings at the hotel – has anyone managed to make it work yet?

Contact the hotel and ask them to take a payment in advance. This works almost every time for me. Best to call rather than email and explain. Sometimes they send an authorisation form.

Used twice (2 cards) at the same hotel this summer, on a Members Save More rate.

On one occasion, the hotel took a one night prepayment, on the other occasion they didn’t. Both eventually settled with the correct cashback, although one took an extra 10 days or so.

Thank you!! – oddly Hyatt’s call centre said this was impossible but phoning the Hotel directly sorted it in 30 seconds…

The Hyatt offer of “spend £250 get £100 back” has returned on some Amex cards. Be aware that the newly reflagged Hyatt Regency London Albert Embankment does not appear to be participating and neither is the new Hyatt Regency Blackfriars which (I think) is expected to open before the deal expires on 30 April.

I’ve got the offer on 2 cards – toying with the idea of using it for my Berlin stay next month but I imagine even with the offer the price won’t match the Hilton which I booked months ago!

    Thanks for that!

Does the offer work with pre-paid rates, as per Hilton?

Very tempting to use it for a stay in December… but I don’t really like prepaid, non-flexible rates…

Yes based on Andaz Liverpool Street, but I did have to ring up to get the payment processed within the offer period. They sent a secure link for payment, and the order credited within 2-3 days.

Thanks – I generally don’t book pre-paid rates these days but I’ve got a couple of trips which I can risk it for!

Based on what we’ve seen in the past two years, there’s a reasonable chance this offer will return later in the year in time for a December stay.

Random question but if I went to a Hyatt hotel reception and purchased a £250 gift card would this activate the offer? (I notice that Hyatt sells plastic gift cards online so I assume the hotel reception would have a few in stock)…

I’m staying at a Hyatt tonight using the offer on my card.

I’ll ask at reception if they sell gift cards and if they charge them at their till point, as both would need to be the case for the offer to trigger.

I’ll ask tonight and report back.

Told by the Hyatt at Manchester that they don’t sell gift cards in the hotels.

You can buy Hyatt gift cards, but not from the hotels themselves, so wouldn’t track and payout on this offer.

Ah thank you so much for checking – was worth a shot I guess!

I booked a 3 night stay in Barcelona via Emyr, gave Emyr credit card to confirm the booking but no payment taken. Plus got free breakfast for 2, 100USD food and beverage credit and room upgrade. First time using Emyr, very happy.
