Just cancelled my Virgin Plus credit card. I gave it a few months since the new system was introduced to see if I’d ever get value from another companion voucher, and the short answer is that I won’t.

Between Barclays and Amex, I have no need for another miles-earning credit card. Virgin points are worth so much less than Avios, that it had to go.

To be honest, I won’t miss Virgin. My best Virgin crew were surlier and idler than my worst BA long haul crew, the Club Room is over-hyped, and the adverts make it clear that fliers like me are an embarrassment. The devalued points placed the final nail in the coffin.

Once my final points are spent, I doubt I will ever again fly on Virgin.
