Forums Hotel loyalty schemes IHG One Rewards IC Ambassador free weekend night on a longer stay

    Hello,

Probably a stupid question for IHG experts but given the $ risk of getting this wrong, I’d rather double check!

I have a 4 nights stays in an IC hotel, which includes a Saturday and a Sunday nights, therefore considering joining the Ambassador program. When I price my stay using the ‘Ambassador Complimentary Weekend Night’ rate, obviously the rate comes up much higher than my flexible corporate rate. So I was wondering if it would be ok to book a 2 nights stays using the ‘Ambassador Complimentary Weekend Night’ for the Saturday/Sunday, and then book another 2 nights stay using my Corporate rate for Monday/Tuesday?

Would there be any unexpected consequences on the Ambassador benefits (late check out, room upgrade)? Would I get the bar credit twice (1 per stay)? Is there a risk that I will have to change room?

Thanks in advance for the feedbacks!

As an Ambassador member you are eligible for the room upgrade and late checkout benefits irrespective of whether your stay is booked on an Ambassador rate or not.

However, as you say, where a stay is broken into two separate bookings, there is a chance you may be required to change room.

Assuming the saving is significant, I’d make the two bookings and then contact the hotel to ask for them to be linked and hopefully they’ll confirm at that stage you’ll be able to remain in the same room throughout.

PS Unless the hotel’s systems are totally useless, don’t expect to get the bar credit twice!

We did exactly that earlier this year at IC Crete as our voucher was expiring.

Two nights in cash Thursday and Friday and two nights with the AMB for Saturday to Monday.

I emailed and asked to link the bookings, upon check-in they had both stays details and allowed us to keep our AMB room for the whole visit. We only had to pop to reception on the Saturday morning to get our room keys reinstated for the extension.

Can confirm we did not get bar credit twice (but now you say it maybe I should have, maybe some else can answer)

No – you couldn’t get the benefit twice in the circumstances described. In the T&Cs clause 9 it says “Any stay by the same member that begins within 24 hours of the last night of a prior stay at the same hotel, will be considered part of the same stay and will not qualify for any member benefits.”
