Will that room become available as a reward stay, or is that not guaranteed?
Long story short, my wife has a Creation free night cert that expires 31/12.
We were going to use it at IC Park Lane on the 27th but not now travelling to London.
We have a points room in Manchester booked in my name for the 31st, so was going to risk cancelling points booking and re-booking with free night cert in my wife’s name.
A search says no reward night is available on the 31st at the minute but would this change if I cancel the points stay?
I wouldn’t take the risk unless you have a backup option which has current availability
There are points rates available on NYE for some Manchester hotels but not all.
So depends where you are staying
And like John I wouldn’t risk losing the night you have without knowing I have another room booked.
Thanks both. It’s a risk – but if I don’t take it then we lose the cert.
Probably leave it.
The room allocation for the IHG cert is different to that for points stays. Have you tried looking with the cert?
On the flip side, even if a points room becomes available if you cancel them points stay, it might not be bookable with the cert.
On the other hand, is there a mr&mrs Smith hotel nearby that you could use the cert with?
