Seems IHG are copying Avios with a 1x, 2x, 3x boost feature. Price is as low as approx 0.5 cents per point. However they have calculated my recent credits incorrectly which I cannot fathom. Anyone else get the email today?
Yeah, I got the e-mail too. I’m getting an option of a 55% discount if I go for 3x, which comes in at 0.517 cents per point.
Not biting, personally…
Got it today and last month too. BA copied Virgin, now IHG are doing it, marketing madness
I’m getting an option for 0.504 cents. Could make sense if I had any leisure travel coming up but I don’t
I bought some in April for 0.48 US cents. I got another emailed offer in June but when I clicked through it said I was not eligible. Just bought another lot at 0.517 and immediately redeemed at roughly the same (based on how much I would like to pay rather than how much the hotels would like me to pay). 4 years ago I thought I would never ever buy points but it makes sense to me now
Yes, I was offered 55% off for 3x too. Not really interested at that price
My main issue is that they said the number I can boost is far less than the amount earned recently and I can’t make any combination of the 5 earns in the last 3 months add up to the number offered
Isn’t it slightly cheaper to cancel a points + cash booking?
Thanks Aston. Been a few years since I did that and it completely passed my mind
