IHG Milestone Rewards – do multiple rooms count as multiple nights?

If I have 2 rooms booked (using Reward Nights) at the same hotel on the same night, does this count as 2 nights towards my Milestone target (or is it a maximum of one room per member per night, regardless of the number of rooms)?

Also – if a hotel stay spans New Year, will the number of nights post into each year, or will ALL the nights post into the year of check-out? Eg would a stay from 28/12/22 – 04/01/23 count as “4 nights in 2022 and 3 nights in 2023” or “7 nights in 2023”?

I’ve just checked a stay of mine that ended 01/01/2022. I got credited 1 elite earning night for 2022. The rest presumably associated themselves with 2021.
