Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points
At check in at Stratford upon Avon Indigo the lady at reception asked if I would like breakfast included or points?
Being an IHG virgin but also taking advantage of the recent Diamond elite offer (mixup) I thought that I would get both free bf and the eligible points? Is this not correct?
Thanks
I think you just misunderstood the offer. Assuming you booked through IHG and are paying cash (ie not a reward night or free-night voucher stay), you will earn points for you stay in the way you expected. She was offering you a choice between either breakfast or some additional points as an alternative. You don’t get many points (I think it’s 600 point worth about £2.50), but it’s better than nothing if you definitely don’t want breakfast.
Enjoy the hotel, btw. I was there recently and was very impressed by the building, the service and the food. It’s a fabulous place.
And unless you really don’t want a free drink, it’s better to take the free drink voucher than the points as 99/100 times they will add the points overnight anyway.
Have you given them your decision? I think breakfast was £12.50 when I was there so you’d get similar value from a cocktail if you didn’t want the food!
It is a delightful property, the little window in the bedroom overlooking the street made me laugh as it reminded me of Edmund’s house in Blackadder II. We had a fantastic meal in the restaurant as well, they had some incredibly fancy steak knives!
