As long as the lounge serves breakfast, yes! You might want to check some reviews (see if it has a thread on FT), as some lounges only serve a rather basic breakfast. Many seem to have gutted their general offerings since the pandemic and not reinstated them.
Thanks. Last flyertalk post was 2 years ago, and last mention of breakfast was 2017! Very good review though
How are you on here, Ambassador, and not Diamond though?!
£200 gets you Ambassador (and Platinum). I only have a paltry 6 stays with IHG!
Just checked into Intercontinental Cancun. Impressive hotel. 156k points for 5 nights which got you a classic room. Upgraded FOC to King Club Signature Room – very nice indeed with sea view, massive balcony and even an outside shower in the private courtyard off the bathroom. All Diamond Ambassador benefits and acknowledgements. Club lounge looks great and think it must be the largest club lounge in the IHG group?…… Waiting on cocktail hour (which is 2 hours) and canapés. Trust it will be great 🙂
Posted on the relevant F&B thread, but the “food & beverage reward” vouchers are working here!
@bibby135 Enjoy! one of our favourite ICs. The breakfast is “American”, the beach bar is good, as is is the beach itself. Staff are very good and the pools rarely crowded. The rooms were very comfortable and the view is great. enjoy the lounge, the lobby bar prices we thought steep and it closes quite early. A decent filling station 500m up to the right and across the main road for snacks, fruit, wine and drinks.
Need to use Ambassador free night, thinking France not Paris. Might just still be Diamond so would probably use breakfast (I don’t, usually).
Out of IC’s in Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille, which IC is better for relaxing weekend but not fussed about the actual room? I’d have gone for the Palais in Biarritz as I think that used to be an IC but it’s now a Marriott
Was at the Lyon IC a few weeks ago, its a nice hotel that covers a big area and has plenty of seating areas. Lyon old town is nearby tho Im not sure I’d call it relaxing as everything in town was pretty busy. Breakfast was good, not a massive selection but it was all well done (tho I’d recommend getting in early as the serving plates were quite small)
I like IC Lyon, but it’s a city break hotel more than relaxing one. If you are looking for a good spa, it’s outside the main building and you need to walk to it in areas open to the general public. It’s also run by a third party. Also no pool. I think Marseille one is better in that respect!
I had thought Lyon as a city might be too busy so that makes sense @meta.
Sounds like it’s Bordeaux or Marseilles. Anybody a fan of Bordeaux IC ?
Sorry @LL cant comment on Bordeaux but the Marseilles one really is excellent.
Bordeaux is on my (long) list of places to visit, but my Amb 2-4-1 is going to expire before I can get there. One not take one for the team, and go? Report back here?
thanks all sounds like I should try Bordeaux, I’ll see what they have and report back if it happens
IC Bordeaux was lovely, no lounge but great breakfast and service. Got upgraded to junior suite with Ambassador. Keen to hear thoughts on this – renew Ambassador with bonus of 15k points, or wait until a new join up bonus of 20k points is offered again? Or do they not give the bonus out to past members?
