Forums Hotel loyalty schemes IHG One Rewards InterContinental Diamond welcome amenity points?

Does anyone know what the points amount is at an IC if you choose it as the Diamond welcome amenity? At a HIEx it’s something paltry like 500pts ($2.50) but presumably it’s a bit chunkier at an IC?

Would drinks be drinks vouchers at the bar?

I’ve booked a rate including brekkie, which I would usually choose as the welcome amenity, so wonder which of the other two offers the best value. I’m guessing it’s the drinks!

I think its either 600 or 1000 points. Drinks at the bar would be more valuable. You may get the points as well, as they sometimes automatically post them to your account.

And although it should be just one welcome drink they may give you two vouchers if there’s two of you checking in and they feel generous.

As a Plat checking in at an IC this week I was offered 2 x drinks or 600 points.

Isn’t breakfast a choice as well? probably worth more than drinks or points .

Yes, you’re correct, but OP mentioned his room rate already included breakfast.

Take the drink – worth more and you usually get the points anyway!

It’s 600 points – which is the option I always choose. (I’m the sort of guy who doesn’t drink booze, and I’m quite happy with a bottle of Coke from a corner shop or supermarket, smuggled into the room! Well, I say smuggled but I don’t think there are any rules against it – it just feels a bit naughty!)

I always take the points too, because if you asked me whether I would pay 600 points for a drink, the answer would always be no. I usually make a tea in the room or they have water.

The answer would still be no if you asked me whether I would pay 600 points with a 50% chance of a refund. However I do like getting points and breakfast.

Some hotels have signs saying no outside food or drinks at all, particularly resort-type hotels.
