Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Is Club baggage allowance 23Kg’s if using Avios to book?

  • 103 posts

I’ve booked using Avios from LGW to FAO in Club. Manage my Boooking says 2 x 23kg’s but Club is usually 2 x 32kg’s. I’m taking golf clubs etc and doubt even the 23kg’s x 2 would be a problem, but I’d like to be sure of my allowance.

Is the fact that I’m using Avios limiting my allowance? I’m only a lowly Blue member as well.

It’ll be the first time I’ve taken my clubs abroad so any ancillary advice or tips from golfers would be welcome. My brother has jsut emigrated to Portugal so this could be the first trip of many…

I noticed this on my trip next month as well from LGW. Is this a downgrade on BA Euroflyer for club?

It’s confusing, that’s for sure. Manage my Booking says 23 kgs, my e ticket says 32 kgs with a ** for Euroflyer hand baggage and a link – click on the link and nowt happens.

Here is the link to baggage allowance based on your ticketed cabin class.

    BA baggage allowance

If you hold silver or above BAEC status, your weight allowance per bag increases to 32kg. Plus one extra bag if you are gold.

Thanks for the link, and I’d looked at that but perhaps not closely enough. It says 23 kg’s but then 32 kg’s when I input the route and cabin class. That matches my e ticket so I’m going with 32 kg’s – not that I can lug 2 x 32 kg’s of luggage and golf clubs in the first place!

Similarly for me it says 23kg until I put my shorthaul route in, then says 32kg.

You will be fine, my Son goes to Portugal a lot with his golf clubs, and I always book him CE reward flights. He was in Vilamoura 2 weeks ago he did say the price of a round of golf has gone from €80 to €118!

I’ve just booked Sons flights for next year, the ticket clearly says luggage 32kg 2 pieces.

@DJP31 Happened to us at EDI last Saturday when check-in chappie said he would let me off with being slightly overweight (bags not me although correct on both counts). I pointed out we were travelling Club and he said for some reason it had only allocated us 23kgs. All was fine but who knows the workings of BA?

I have just done CE bag drop at BER for a flight to LHR and can confirm it’s definitely 32kg allowance. For the first time ever I have absolutely maxed this as moving back to the UK so have 5 pieces of hold luggage (two of them were 32.5kg and the Swissport agent said I needed to get them down to exactly 32 or less as that’s the max weight the baggage handlers are allowed to lift!)
