Forums Hotel loyalty schemes IHG One Rewards Is there a maximum length of stay for points earning?

I’ve just negotiated a 32 night stay at a UK Voco. There isn’t something like a 30 day maximum that would trip me up in terms of nights and points earning is there?

    No.

Good question though as I think Marriott has a 30 night rule.

Thanks very much Rob. I shall look forward to a bonanza in that case!

When you say “negotiated”, have you confirmed that you will get points and benefits for a “special” rate?!

That’s a good point. It’s showing on my app as points earning and the ‘Best Flexible Rate with Breakfast’ – so it looks indistinguishable from any normal rate. It was just that the manager apparently keyed it in while I was standing at front desk talking to him. I wonder if I should ask in that case.

The booking/email confirmation should show how many points you’ll earn – make sure you have a record of that in case of any discrepancies!

Fair point. IHG is the only chain that allows heavily discounted negotiated rates to earn zero points. The cut off is a rate 30% below Best Flexible although the hotels are not obliged to do this.

I wonder how they identify the heavily discounted rates in that case. The app booking is showing predicted points (albeit with a slightly low exchange rate against the dollar), and the rate is explicitly the best flexible rate, albeit a lot lower than the currently displayed public rate for most of the nights. It’s the sort of thing I get weary of asking because (understandably) hotel staff themselves often don’t have huge knowledge of the loyalty programme.

If it shows as Best Flex then I doubt IHG can claim it is too heavily reduced from Best Flex!
