Looking for a warm weather destination for January 2025. I am struggling a bit with Business redemptions, but having flown BA Premium Economy to Cape Town last year, it isn’t the end of the world.

Premium economy also opens up Gatwick as well as Heathrow. Very much open to Middle East, US, Caribbean etc. Destination would ideally have resorts ideal for families.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

    Thanks!

Dubai/Doha/Abu Dhabi/Oman are reasonable-length flights and PE is 42,500 avios each way off-peak. Southern US and Caribbean are longer flights and 47,500 avios. PE certainly isn’t the end of the world.

If you’re travelling outside school holidays you should find plenty of availability and be spoilt for choice with family resorts. We thought Le Meridien Beach Resort in Dubai was lovely – the half-board package is also very convenient. Barbados and St Lucia are very family-friendly as well.

USA – the weather can be unpredictable and it has become much more expensive recently, but of course yo will find all types of accommodation and endless activities for a young family. You could get to California in PE, as well as Florida.

Definitely dependent on age of other kids and, above all,
whether you’re NOT tied to school hols!

US is so, so easy with kids.

Yes – avoid the first 10 days or so in January as there’s usually very little award seat availability, at least on the inbound as everyone comes home from Xmas/New Year breaks.

We did Xmas and New Year in Florida in 2022. On Xmas Day it was cloudy and raining and 12 C in the Keys (so much for Xmas Day on the beach!!), but on NYD in Ft Lauderdale it was 28 C and boiling, so you really could get any extreme of weather!

Depends what sort of holiday you’re after but:

Maldives – January is one of the three best months but PE seats can also be hard to come by.

Carribbean – January clearly one of the best months.

I wouldn’t do Mauritius in January, though for future reference that is a good PE redemption.

Could consider Nairobi and take the train to Mombasa. Would need to consider malaria etc though which might be a concern with a 9 month old.

Congratulations by the way! (Working on the assumption that a nine month old in Jan has just been born!)

Slow Sunday so I’ve just remembered BA only guarantee 2 PE seats, so that’s going to limit things a bit.

I haven’t checked, but I’m willing to bet there isn’t anything like 4 available at this point to MLE. MRU or many Caribbean islands. More chance with DXB or DOH, I would think.

Should have added it’s me and the wife, 9 month old and then two of our parents, so no other children!

I’m putting off starting the chores here, so had a look on SeatSpy and the only Caribbean destinations with 4 PE seats over the middle fortnight in January are CUN and PUJ. That said, both have some great resorts for families, even if Cancun has some issues these days!
