I’m looking at a Beijing-SIN in July, but every single
flight has “waitlisted” for a (business) redemption: is this a
    general situation / is there
a decent chance of it coming through?

Yeah, it’s an aggravating system! It’s all down to rev management. Some have said they clear a few days after waitlisting, but most not at all. It’s a real gamble – so much so that I refuse to partake and am routing via Cathay for my flight for a guaranteed (and cheaper) redemption!

Hmm tricky…the econ price is actually quite decent, was just thinking of blowing points
in club…but of course then I’ll dither and get neither!!!

Pre Covid I’d have said China would clear within a few days based on my many experiences on regional flights

Post covid I’m not travelling SQ but from what I know from friends nothing really clears unless you have PPS status and to be fair to SQ flights are generally packed in the front cabin so rev management is working !

If you have miles and can book economy and waitlist biz or waitlist biz and see what happens in next few days then they are options otherwise cash economy isn’t a bad idea, it’s not a super long flight and SQ economy is comfortable enough!

Pre Covid pretty much every waitlisted flight in business either UK/Oz or Oz/UK cleared with no status. Since Covid – and now SQ Gold – not one has cleared….

Thanks, all – cash eco will be fine! Will use Kris for the SIN-Lombok leg instead.

They’re actually Scoot flights which aren’t great value with Krisflyer miles – but they do have a hard expiry so not bad if you’ve nothing else to use them for!

Exactly what I was thinking, Sam! Next next summer (’25) is non-SEAsia (sniff!), so I thought
better to use them for something even though not great.
