L’and Vineyards, Montemor-o-Novo – Mr and Mrs Smith

We have booked directly with the L’and website for a two night stay in February. I understand they are a Mr and Mrs Smith

Is there any benefits I should expect or maybe request is the better way of saying it. I am an IHG Ambassador, Spire Elite member.

If you’ve not booked this hotel on IHG’s own website, there are no benefits from being IHG Spire or Ambassador. It seems to be a common misconception that Mr and Mrs Smith are part of IHG. They aren’t and it’s only an alliance. If you’ve booked directly with the hotel (or even if you’d booked via Mr and Mrs Smith) then your status is meaningless.

I would write to the hotel saying you preferred to book directly with them so they don’t have to pay commissions to IHG or Mr and Mrs Smith but you are an IHG member and booking via them or Mr and Mrs S would have given you x or y benefits so you trust the hotel will provide the equivalent as an absolute minimum particularly as very off season. These discussions are of course best had before booking when you would have been able to negotiate a big price discount.

Thank you, there was a flash sale so the price was very good. Wondered if any spend at the hotel could be used to generate some IHG reward points. Thank you
